About Wexly

A small publication for people who like to understand things

Wexly publishes one well-researched story every weekday, on the topics people actually talk about at dinner. It’s independent, reader-funded and has never run an ad.

Why we started

Why we started

Most of what we read online is either too long to finish or too short to trust. We wanted something in between: a story you can read over a coffee, written by someone who did the homework.

So we set ourselves one rule. Every weekday, one story, on anything people are curious about, from the price of rent to the sound of a frozen lake. Each one has to answer a single question clearly, with sources you can check.

Two years later the rule still holds. The team is still eight writers and two editors, and the inbox is still read by a person.
